It should move up and down tbf, unless its a resivoir... If there is nothing leaking, then its a possible headgasket, but dont jump straigh to that...check around the water pump/cambelt area for leaks

Not really, pays to do it at the same time as an oil change as it involves taking off the oil filter, then its just 2 bolts...

Insurance will be fine trust me, i was only just 19 when i bought my first GTI ;) When you first start it up there might be a slight rattle, its the timing chain tensioner...nothing to worry about if it stays for like 1-2 seconds, then it should sound sweet, its about £50-70 to fix yourself...

Not sure about the clutch either...tbf i would change it anyway A standard replacement clutch will do fine though...unless you hit over 120bhp
