But 60mm off the rear springs seems like a lot....even with the cars weight sitting on them. Edit: See, my local MOT man would fail the car if the springs were cable tied in. Lucky your dad is one aye ;)

Nope, not all about the size of the subs. If the install is done properly, with a well designed box, then it shouldnt matter what size the subs are. My 2 12's in a custom ported box sounded ace and dropped like mad too!

I've taken the speedo cable securing nut off, that wasnt a problem. frank, what's that? :wow: So for my 97' SR where would I find the fill plug?! Going by the Haynes it said the filling was done via the speedo cable entry point? The drain plug I can see, so where's the fill plug?!

Well what are you charges? For my bank its something silly like £5 a day plus interest....but if you don't care then do it.

Your choice really, but if I'm overdrawn by £800 and getting charged each day/week for that then I'd want to pay the debt off first.

Use 75w/90 semi-synthetic oil :) Motor oil would be a bit thin I'd have thought! A 5L container from the local motorfactors cost me £23 :). Buying 3 x 1L containers would have cost £20! According to the Haynes manual the 1L box takes 2.5ish litres, the 1.3 box takes 3L.

To drain or to fill it up??? I know about the drain plug with the 1/4" square socket but I wanted to get access to the top of the box before I drained the oil. Otherwise I would be in trouble! According to the Haynes, anything up to 1997 you need to remove the speedo drive to check the level...

Easiest way to the battery is via one of a couple of grommets on the passanger side of the car, so behind the battery on the bulkhead as you're looking into the engine bay. You will need to get under the carpet then the fireproofing mat on the bulkhead but you should be able to feed your cables...

I was planning on renewing my gearbox oil today but I've spent hours stuck on one piece.... :( I've taken off the 10mm bolt that holds the speedometer gear drive in place, and I can unscrew the speedo cable itself, but the drive assembly just will NOT budget. It's obviously not been moved...

Serious problems, spent hours today trying to pull the speedometer drive body out and it just wouldn't budge. Kind of stuck now :(
