    i doubt you would get the g/box ecu to work without changing the entire wiring looms and the pre 2000 ones use a powder clutch

    the most awkward bolts are 2 of the inner ones on the inlet mani to head mate, i always left them off or you can lift the head-mani as one (longer job) but i did loads of head swaps in situ

    yes 3rd 4th and 5th, on the prefacelift you could disconnect the earth screw on the speedo it to overide it

    3rd gear is usually when the ecu transfers to closed loop fueling on acceleration you can check if its running too lean by monitoring the lambda voltage with a volt meter or freeware https://micra.org.uk/threads/tost-the-official-spam-thread.53370/page-63#post-651217

    yes but same porting/piston/valve size, but 1.3 is longer stroke so the 1.0 responds better to rpm

    the 1.3 has more grunt, but they both run out of steam at 6k tho so tuning mods to get the 1.0 to pull strongly at the limiter make a big difference

    maybe the anti-roll bars are reacting to the engine weight ? praps remove a droplink front and rear, then retest, then fit custom length droplinks ?
