Wont start

My car failed its mot a few weeks ago and has been sitting since, I started it yesterday and it fired for a second and then died and now won't start the batt is fine turns over just as normal but just won't fire. Now the fuel was very low before I left it standing do you reckon it might of evaporated with time and it just needs fuel I haven't checked any thing but everything on the ignition was changed in the last six months as was the fuel and air filters

Whats the gauge reading?

Mine did something similar I changed the dizzy cap and then it reluctantly fired it could also be something else that someone suggested before and try and start it with the fuel pump fuse out

Fuel gauge reading empty with light on I'm Gunna get some fuel later and I'll try the flooding trick also if putting fuel in don't help all the dizzy cap, arm, leads and plugs were changed last time it broke down (six months ago) and it turned out the shaft on the distributed itself had sheared god knows how
