wheel bore... bigger or smaller??

Hey, quick question...

When buying wheels, does the centre bore size need to be bigger or smaller? Because I've read and I've been told both. I believe some wheels with a smaller bore size will fit such as some Vauxhalls and VWs. But I've also heard that it needs to be bigger to fit, with the addition of spigot rings.

I've searched the forum but I still can't find any guaranteed answer. The wheels I was planning on buying are stock steels off a BMW Mini which has a bore of 56.1. Micra has 59.1. Thanks.

to be the exact same or bigger! you can get smaller bored wheels but you will have to pay to get them rebored, most aftermarket alloys are 70-something with spigot rings.
