What size exhaust?

Hey guys. Very soon I'll be a proud owner of a 1995 k11. I had been looking since Xmas for the right Micra to come along n I found it. Only 65,000klms n perfect condition. Just wondering what size exhuast is best?I'm thinking 2" or 2 1/4"

Anything over 2" is overkill.

just for reference, turbomarch's car made EXACTLY the same hp/torque with 2" from the cat back as it did with 3".

Definitely, anything over 2 inches is overkill. Save your money and stick with @ inch diameter exhaust.

For GeoffW's car when it says 2" exhaust, does that mean for the last meter or so of the exhaust system, or did he also have the extra catalytic converter removed and a larger pipe from the manifold to the muffler?

Did he have a 'high flow' muffler?

How much of the exhaust system from the engine/manifold to the tailpipe does this 2" refer to?

Forgive my ignorance please.

It does appear that the best single thing to improve torque is to increase the exhaust to 2" (whatever that means).

On My non turbo car. Went 2" from extractors back. High flow muffler. Think it was Commodore cant remember now.

the 1st cat exit is 39mm inside dia david, then it drops to 34mm at the downpipe then drops further to 31mm where it joins the 2nd cat (due to a reinforcing collar inside the flange)
the rest of the system varies from 31mm bore to 35mm depending on make/brand
so the downpipe is very restrictive imo (where the gasses are still hot and expanded) and i went for a modded mani, 2nd decat 40mm bore system throughout
(which gave me .003% CO emissions)
