what are the different parts of my exhaust system

Ok, whilst under my car this weekend I spotted lots of bits of exhaust that need explaining. It's a 1.4 facelift.

So i have
Manifold - with lambda

Cat

Length of pipe with heat Shields and lambda

This is the bit that confuses me. ... Small silencer looking item and torpedo shape all on same pipe.

Back box.

Can someone explain the 2 bits that make upthe mid section.

Cheers frank. So only 1 cat on the 1.4. I'm guessing I can remove the silencer without problems, but what about the resonator . do you know if I can buy pipe work to get rid of these bits.

yes gary, the 1.0 coilpack had just the resonator iirc, and i bought a coilpack midpipe a few years ago that was just a singular pipe (to decat my 96 k11) but it depends what aftermarket brand you buy really (timex, walker etc)

Haven't found anything yet, I'll have to phone up for measurements As the ones in the catalogue seem pictorially to short as if they go with a cat. Can't find any without silencer as yet.

the ebay ones are usually a generic pic eh gary, you,re probably best to ask at a qiuckfit type place, and look in their book thingy

If you find one will ya let me know mate? I have a 2002 coilpack and want to replace the centre section with one without the silencer/resonator but like you said only ones i can see seem too short

Can only find short sections myself, looked through the catalogue at ats so not having any luck at the moment.
