Welding sills

i now have a 2nd Micra that I brought for spares, with 6 months MOT left.
It has rotten sills and the plan was to strip it of parts for spares.
But the more I look at it the less i want it to go to the big scrap heap in the sky. It has a really strong 1.3 engine and box with only 60k on it.

So I would like to have a bash at welding the sills up.
What thickness steel is used on the sills as I want to get some scrap and start honing my welding skills?

1mm sheet should suffice wehey, praps practice with some 1.5mm tho

the thicker steel absorbs the heat more mate, so less blowholes
