Welding on the Exhaust?

Mornin all!

I want to weld an exaust tip in place as it keeps shaking itself loose and ive nearly lost it a couple of times. I will be using Stick or Arc welding. Is there anything i need to do to the car to prep it? my dad said remove the battery, or at least disconnect it, and also remove the main fuse? is this correct, i see what he means as there will be 80Amps running through the car.

Any advice would be great. Cheers all!!

i did mine last week and didnt even disconnect the battery and it was fine, started straight after, runs ok...

its best to disconnect the battery before using an electric welder on the car or the current can fry it or the alternator or even the ECU.

Yeah i think im gonna disconnect it. the only reason not to was i would loose all my presets on the radio. ah well have to reset them. best be safe than sorry eh!
