Vibration/Balance Issues

After Changing my clutch and getting flywheel machined nearly 10'000KM (2-3months) ago, i have recently (2wks) noticed a somewhat increased vibration through the car when cruising at speed, usually 3000 rpm, 2500rpm isnt soo bad. Its not a large vibration but a very transmissive one, which has given me tennis elbow from resting my arm on the armrest/doorhandle. It is felt through everthing, floor, seat, door, even seatbelt.

Is there any possibility that the flywheel machining caould have out it out of balance?

i did notice a lesser version of this vibration immediatly after i put the clutch in, but i think it has gotten abit worse in last 2wks,

any ideas?

Alex

Nasty Alex.

Sounds exactly like my car. Had it for a long time. I thought exhaust fixed it, now that its playing up again, its come back.

You would think a specialist machine shop would absolutely ensure that they balanced it correctly wouldn't you..

Things like this are pretty hard to narrow down I reckon. Really just need to do a lot of trial and error. I.e. try a different flywheel, try a different clutch, check your exhaust etc.

Have you had a look under the car to make sure all your exhaust mounts are still in place and haven't cracked or let go etc? Could be a simple coincidence with a mount letting go recently..

What about engine mounts? They all in ok condition? I had a really bad vibration once from a stuffed mount, plus it wasn't done up tight enough either.

think you might be onto somthing there cisco. When i did the clutch i gained a rattle that sounded like a loose piece of exhaust heatsheild (high pitch only on heavy accel or holding speed at 110km/h), plus having the motor hanging on two and at one stage no mounts could have stressed exhaust rubbers, hangers.

engine mounts are all perfect,

Interesting,

Alex

Hmm well that's a start.

Did that make any improvement? Or still the same?

Nothing attached to the engine is rubbing against the body or chassis? For example, when my intercooler piping is in a bad spot, it can rub on the inside metal frame part of the front bumper bar, and that can transmit some harshness sometimes, because its bolted directly to the engine and rocks around with the engine etc.

the way the flywheel would be machined you'd think it'd be pretty hard for them to stuff it up..since they'd just load it into a machine..machine it..then take it out again?

one of my cooler pipes is rubbing against my clutch cable so i get some vibration from that through the clutch unfortunately

ehhhh
