Tyre Sizes

Hiya all,
I have had my Micra for 5 days now and already my thoughts are turning to wheel and tyre porn......:blush:
I currently had 155/70/R13 on there and having looked around the site at other motors i think i would like to go down the 14inch rim route.
Now what tyre size do i choose?? I guess a ??/55/R14 tyre would keep the rolling circumference about right, but what width do i go for?? I dont want to go stupid wide but want it to look nice............and obviously a size that is readily available "off the shelf" kinda thing.....
Any advice would be appreciated

I have been playing around with different sizes......how come the 1st number, which i presume is the width, affect the diameter??

How can 145/70/R13 have the same rolling circumference as 185/55/R13 ??

because the aspect ratio is a % of the width (70% of 145 is about the same as 55% of 185)

ahhhhh.....i didnt know it was a ratio....i thought it was the actual size of tyre from rim to outer......now it all makes sense!! Thanks (Y)

Jeeeeezzzzz.........the more i look the more im confused.......i just dont know what size to go for!!
Ideally i would like some banded steels or something retro looking ???

Ive been looking around the site for 3-4 days now........and hate asking obvious questions that have been asked before......but is there a thread on here showing pics of members wheels/sizes etc.....at least then i can see with my own eyes what a particular size will look like..........i have tried the search function, honest guv!!

Yeah i have been playing around with that too but its hard to see what it would look like actually on the car. Whats the rim width and offset of my standard steel wheels (155/70/R13)?

5 x 13 et 45 or 5.5 x 13 et 38 super s alloy or 5 x 14 et 45 facelift

DONT GO anywhere near 195/50R15 = Driving on rock-belted tyres

this is my old setup against yours.

my needed some little archwork and some front negative camber, so i think your will be lucky. It also depends how low you go
