Tire size help !

Hi guys, I'm new to forum as u will see lol.
I've recently got some almera alloys 14"s but the tyres are 185/65/r14 and tbh they make it look like a tractor.
Any idea on the size of tyre that would be best ? Got to be carefull Sheffield is pothole city !

I'm putting 185/55 14's on mine. Under £50 each fitted (each) from various online suppliers.
