thinking about buying a K12

Hi all, we are thinking about going down to one car and possibly getting a K12, at the moment we are looking at getting rid of my 2001 focus (which has stoppped running) and my wife's 2006 grande punto and getting something we can keep hold of for aq few years. We have seen 1 2007 K12 spirita model, it has 33k on the clock and the dealer wants £3k for it.

I have a few questions:
1. I have checked the mot history, mileage checks out, nothing major that was needed or failed on, what should we look for that is micra specific?
2. what are the common faults to look for? I know about the power steering "issue" but are there any other major faults
3. What else do I need to know/consider? If we don't buy this one we are looking to spend about £2.5k on a micra, are we going to get a car we can keep for a while without major issues for that budget?
 
I've had mine for about 10years. It's a 1.0l now on about 120k Had no major issues at all. The usual sensors needing replacement,general wear and tear bits. The air bag light is the only common one that frequently pops up,but for that money you'd be looking at a later model than mine that doesn't suffer the early teething problems :)

May I suggest you do your own research to achieve a rational unbiased evaluation of K-12 Micra owners (non-Micra enthusiasts) ongoing operating and maintenance issues. Non-Micra enthusiasts, ordinary owner driver experienced issues can be found at the Daily Telegraph motoring correspondence website. Be sure to read the unbiased good and bad section.

Avoid small automatics and automated manual gearboxes sometimes called AMT/ DSG. & i shift;~ (or as I came to know it, the O-Sh*t gearboxes)

In short do your own research (get the data) and make your own rational conclusions to avoid ongoing reliability maintenance issues and unnecessary expenses.;)

Common fault with Micra are the boot lock mechanism. Mainly water damage. So if you get faulty one, only way to get into boot by getting inside the car and use a small screwdriver to unlock the boot. Eventually U have to replace the boot release button. I had no major issue with my Micra before I sold it.
