Sunroof grease - WARNING!

Just a quick note, so people don't make the same mistake i have..

If your sunroof is stiff and needs a re-grease - go and get it done at Nissan. They should have the correct grease handy!!!

It appears the normal heavy duty type greases we use for our suspension bushings and to pack our bearings with is TOO THICK. My sunroof now requires 2 hands to wind it open and closed. It tilts fine however.

Did you use the same grease on your suspension bushings that you use to pack bearings?

You should use a lithium based grease because 'normal' grease doesn't like the urethane bushings..

If you have whiteline suspension anyway

yeah, i used some of that rubber grease on mine yesterday > its sticky but rather low viscosity, called white lithium grease. Much better now

What a bugger that is, I have only used WD40 or something like that and it works good or you can use chain lube that works good also. Not had any problem runs smoothly in all directions.

Yeh different suspension aaron - havent greased anything on the micra, its just the old dunga navara i have to grease things on.

I've cleaned the grease off and its running better now but it really needs some. I might try the chain lube... Thanks for that idea rocket!
