Stubborn brake warning light

My (september2000) micra's brake warning light (!) refuses to go out:
I've disconnected the handbrake switch, and topped up the brake fluid (and gone for a drive round the block twice to make sure the brakes still work) but the warning light STILL stays on. :glare:
The rest of the dashboard lights still function so presumably the fuse is still good; my Haynes manual says there should be a small filter in the top-up reservoir, but mine is missing, so anyone got any ideas ?

have you tried disconnecting the plug to the master cylinder G ?

Do you have ABS? Could be a broken sensor

i believe the abs system has it's own warning light^

Okay now it went out when i'd let it stand for about an hour after driving, it may have sorted itself out :wow:

yeah, just like "Christine" :suspect: (although that's not one of Mr King's better books IMO, I would recommend "The Bachmann Books")
