Stock K12 HU with Ipod connection.

First of all let me start off by saying I am new here and hello.

I have done a search through the forum and still cannot find what I am looking for and so I am hoping someone on here can help me out.

Just picked up a 1.6 56 plate K12 Essenza convertible.

My question is I want to be able to listen to my iPod through the default stereo system. I see everyone on here either swaps the stereo out or uses the XCarLink system to achieve this.

Having done a little looking around I have stumbled across this the MP3 connector here:http://www.nissan-aftersales.co.uk/accessories/search

So my question is. Where is the cheapest place I can get the MP3 connector from and how does it work.

Why do people go for the XCarLink system?

I think people go for it because it lets them keep the steering wheel controls? But im not sure if K12s even have steering wheel buttons lol

Yeah I do have the steering wheel controls.
Does the XCarLink system allow you control the ipod with the steering wheel controls?

What do the steering wheel controls do? I imagine they would still work, it would be a bit silly if they didn't!
