starting problem

Hi all
new to this great site and need some help
my micra 1.2 s auto 55reg
only starts intermittently first fault in three years
when not starting feel like battery dead
took to garage and fault diagnosed as starter relay
garage claimed nissan would only sell complete relay system £170
garage decided to use unused front fog light relay.
tested and started 20 times no problem
this morning fault returned
back to garage awaiting fate
any ideas

If I need a part that is nissan only i normally shot off to a scrap yard! (Y)

it'll be the ignition switch when it plays up as ur turning to start the car wagle the key it should start but it defo sounds like a switch

Defenitely sounds like a worn ignition switch, seen it before on everything from a small car to a 57 seat coach - would advise you to buy a new one fron dealer cos a s/hand part could be as bad if not now in the near future

now that u mention this, i think my car suffers from this... turn the key the whole way around and nothing happens, it just wants a 'really good' turn and it should work!

the ignition switch is sold separately but unfortunately arnt cheap and it is a common problem only on u1 and u2 chassis hope this helps
