Starter motor replacement

Hi Everyone

The starter motor on my nissan micra k12 is burnt and I'm going to replace it. Just wanted to know if we need to lubricate or apply oil to the gear on the new starter motor before fitting?

I wouldn't. The bell housing is a dry but very dusty area and any oil will just attract dust from the clutch and cause problems..
