Spare Key

my k11 only came with 1 key and knowing me its only a matter of time for me too lock it in the car. I have looked around but everyone seems to be charging a fortune. Is there anyway to get one that wont cost me a fortune? Would changing the locks be an option at all?

can you describe the key? does it have (nats) red/blue chip pic might help

Yeah, NATS square key with the red chip on the bottom of one side.

Spoke to my local mech today and he said that it will cost at least £100, he can cut it but he'd have to send it to a 3rd party company to have it programmed.

I had one done at my local locksmith for £35

How does that work, the key needs to be nats coded? I didn't know lock smiths could code keys?

I think you would need to change the Ecu, barrel, door locks and keys, or pay 100 to have a new one coded to your system
