Serious Engine Trouble - Help!

Hey Guys i was driving along normally and when i put the car into third gear it started driving itself if i press the clutch down the engine revs like crazy and i cant slow the car down! even if i put the car in neutral it still revs like mad i dont know what this is has anybody had the same problem, she is definatley off the road until this is fixed. :down:

is it just the throttle sticking ?

i dont know not much of a mechanic gonna have to wait till my old man can have a look at it but it seems like it is stuck, the gears work by the seems of it just driving along then suddenly drove itself my mate thought i was joking until i showed him i wasnt touching anything and it was driving by itself thought we were gonna crash had to turn off the ignition to stop it!

it sounds like the throttle cable is sticking to me, or the return spring on the carb busted

ok guys thanks for your help got out there this evening and it was the mechanism itself cos it was never really looked after by previous owners it kinda got stuck cos of the rust etc. so got out the jesus spray and coated the whole lot works fine again back to happy micra days! plus i have some new wheels i wanna put on
