Screenwash leaking

So I have a Micra K12 and recently I noticed that the screenwash had stopped shooting onto the windscreen.

This has happened beforehand and it was the jet nozzles that were blocked but this time I noticed there seemed to be no noise coming from the pump when I pulled the lever towards me. So I bought a new pump, replaced it without too much difficulty. However when I went to fill the tank with fresh screen wash, I discovered that it was leaking everywhere. It had not occurred to me check this before. I am guessing the lack of water reaching the pump caused it to burn out and stop working.

I cannot see where the leak is coming from but I am guessing I would have to remove the bumper to see clearly . I did not have to do this to replace the pump because the bumper is loose in the corner around the headlamp and I was just able reach my hand in and pull it back enough to gain access.

Is there an alternative to removing the bumper? Does this mean I would have to remove the wheels and mudguards?

I have never jacked a car up in my life and feel I may be out of my depth. However money is in very short supply and if I can avoid taking it to a garage that is what I would prefer to do.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

Thanks in advance,
Rob.

Removing a front bumper should not be too difficult and should not need you to jack up the car in order to do it. You might need to turn the wheels for access to screws/clips in the front wheel wells and some crawling to get to the bottom, but that all should be doable in any parking spot.

Thanks for the reply.

It seems to me that the bumper is far too low for me to even see the screws at the bottom that hold it in place but I will have another look at it.

remove the wheel arch liner.

you will struggle to remove the bumper as all the fixings will be rusted. you will possibly have to cut some of the fixings (do not try to undo the bolts in the wheel arch for the bumper without being able to hold the clip, it will spin and eat your bumper).

you will need to remove the arch liner to get to these bolts. you can't remove the liner without taking the wheel off.

you can get to the bottom of the bottle with the arch liner out. may not need to remove the bumper at all, although I haven't tried to remove it beyond just noticing it was there.

you will need to remove the wheel to do anything I'm afraid.
do not work work with the car on the Jack, it needs to be supported on axle stands.

sorry.

oh and most likely place to be leaking from is the pump seal. it's just a grommet, when you swap out the pump they can be a bugger to get to seal or worse, they have a tendency to be pushed in to the bottle. you need to lubricate the pump as you push it in.

Thanks. I think I am well out of my depth here. Looks like garage is the only option unfortunately.
