REVERSE CAMERA INSTALL HELP

Someone please help me

I have a dashcam with a reverse camera which I have routed through the car however i am trying to work out how to get the reverse camera to activate when I put it into reverse.

Does anyone know which cable I should t tap as I’ve tried a few that don’t work.

I know the reverse is on the left rear

Can you advise how I do this. There’s lots of cables. Which colour cable is it.* have a multi meter? Dunno how to use it.
Well on the passenger side rear light cluster, which has the reversing light in it, the red wire feeding pin number 1 (the upper most one) on the connector, is fed by 12volts when reverse is selected. If you tap off of this feed to power up the camera it should only be activated when reverse is selected. However if you don't know how to use a multimeter I suggest that you are being just a bit ambitious attempting this project...... Be VERY careful not to short anything out, as all of the fuses for the lighting circuits are located in the power distribution module which is located under the N/S headlight, that has to be removed before access to the module (which has to be unclipped and rotated to see the fuses which are underneath) is possible, a job in itself that is a real sod.

Cheers mate. Yes I know about the fuses under the headlight as the last time i used the multi meter it blew like 4 of them!! I’ll try number 1 although I think I already tried a crimp two and didn’t work for me. I saw some people saw strip the wire and then twist and electrical tape but I prefer to crimp it on.

Thanks buddy. I like to do basic stuff myself but this one was peeing me off

The number two pin on the connector would appear to feed the N/S indicator bulb......

This is the connector I got on a spare N/S rear light......

Just wondering, vehicle less than 4 meters in length. Need for reverse camera?!
I have similar to THIS, not as technical solution, works for my needs! ;)
I have a very small carpark behind my house, when I park nose in and go to leave the house at 5.30 it’s pitch black so reversing out is nigh on impossible. This is to help
me see behind me.

Hi John thank you for your help. I looked at the wire tap for cable 1 and the clip hadnt cut into the wire so explains why it never came on. I stripped the sheath and then used the tap and it worked a treat!!!
Great news, glad to have been of help:) (as a retired design engineer I can't get out of the habit of trying to solve problems)...

Next step is to change the stereo!! my k12 is a 2004 and only 34k miles. So don’t want to get rid of it until it blows up!!
