Replacing gear shifter knob

Hi there guys, i have a k14 and i want to replace the stock gear shifter knob for a nice aftermarket one, how do i take the knob off, i’ve tried unscrewing it like most gear knobs are but it’s not budging at all, and i’ve tried pulling it off and still nothing.

Has anyone does this mod before and if so please tell me how to do it.

If you get a small plastic trim tool at the side of chrome bit where gear numbers are and prize it up and then use some pliers to remove the bit underneath then the knob should just twist and pull off

oh really, have u done this before, and if i manage to get it off, can i just buy any replace gear knob stick? or do i need to look for a specific one what will fit?

I’m sorry not sure on that one I’ve removed mine when I was taking the centre console out but it was refit with the original. I know a screw type one won’t fit but a push type one might although some modification with a dremel might be needed

oh right ok, so it’s not screwed on? it’s pushed on? what is a dremel?

i want one like this, if u look on the box it says it fits all MT cars, so realistically it should work right?

Mine isn’t I think they are all the same but I do think a push type fit on ok. If you get a thin plastic trim tool or be very gentle with a small screwdriver around of the chrome bit there and get it to lift slightly then it slides straight up and off and then there is a little black circle piece that pulls straight out with some pliers and then the knob turns sort of 45 degrees to the left and pulls straight up.

A dremel is just a small rotary tool with different adapters just allows you to make some modifications to help fit
