Rear suspension

Who makes the rear springs with height adjusters at the bottom of them ?

Also what sort of height range do you get out of them i.e. +/- from OEM ?

I can't go to coilover at the rear due to road rally rules, but would like more control over the height of the rear of the car. At the moment all i can do is add a +15mm spacer to the top of the forest springs i have and it makes the rear of the car too high on smooth tarmac stuff.

I use coilovers on road rallies? :/ the height adjusters will be a grey area come scrutineeting

They're a custom mix of corsa b parts and standard arts
Best one to ask is @enuos he's done it recently

the access for adjusting those type must be really fiddly matt, i would just have 2 sets of springs personally

Yeah, the rear adjuster on corsa b kit is 2.25", so i made an adaptor so can use 2.25" in rear in stock spring location with adjuster on top but you only really get about 20-25mm of adjustment

Ok thanks for the info.

Changing to rear coilovers is a change in type / design of suspension, which isn't allowed on road rallies. Getting away with doesn't mean it is right, most scutineers dont check suspension. But with the targa rallies (run to R18 road rally rules) being very competitive, someone else (competitor) will spot and report it....

I may keep an eye out for some corsa b springs or some tarmac springs.

It's not getting away with it. Its been openly allowed. K10s are already of coilover design. You're just adding height adjustment in. Which is exactly what you're doing eh ;)

K11 is a different model though? Otherwise you could fit mk6 escort suspension to a mk1.

Agreed all you are doing is increasing height, but according my msa tech dept guys it is a change in design, hence not allowed under R18.

just 1 bottom shock bolt and pull the spring out the back matt (5 minute job) so you have a light short spring for tarmac, and a longer stronger spring for forest..........simples :)

Yea you couldn't fit coilovers on the rear on yours as it is a change :) hence I prefer the K10 for suspension

If you add height adjusters you're also making your car illegal under r18? :/

Why? Stronger springs for smooth surfaces.
Softer ones for softer surfaces. Very very simple

If I put my 7x650s tarmacs on for forest I'd probably no longer have a car
i would have thought a bumpy terrain needs a stronger spring personally, ie, off roaders etc

They weight 2 / 3 times as much, move alot slower and conquer totally different terrain. Still wouldn't expect to see stiffer springs in relation to tarmac type for the same vehicle plus speed

While here were talking forest rally. 130+mph down a forest track doesn't require stiff suspension eh :)

Height changes doesnt affect the type of suspension so allowed.

Fair point i didnt twig you were referring to your k10, am knackered after a late night of karting and 5.45am start today.....

And yes your correct re spring tarmac vs gravel.

Tiredness is a perfectly acceptable excuse for anything :D

I still maintain the opinion there's many loop holes in the blue book regarding suspension. The only change from standard to cheaper coilovers is the height adjustment

I should hope I'm right with springs... its my daily job :p

the problem is that the springs sit inside a fairly deep cup in the axle tho eh, you would,nt be able to swing a C spanner

My adjuster is going at the top, can adjust easy from there AND its the flat end of spring so designing a cup is MUCH easier

blueprints or ban :) how about adjustment from underneath ? (through the big hole under the lower cup)

...you'd need to fabricate a T-shaped bar where the top arms attached to the spring seat and the vertical arm came down through the drain hole, with a socket end on it....

My current rear setup is in prototype stage, will make a proper setup eventually, but will probably want casting in aluminium. Atm its just a 120mm round steel plate with 3 bolts screwed and welded in place on a 106mm pcd, with a bolt in middle to bolt down the spring adjuster from the corsa b coilover kit (will grab put of car and take a photo if needs be), and this:

Narrow portion locates in hole in bottom of lower spring seat, the washer secures from underneath and the thicker portion is same as inner dia of 2.25" sping and forms the lower spring seat :)
