Radio picking up sshhhh sounds

Bought a second hand car and yesterday was able to find the code using this site .

Having turned radio on all I get is sssshhhh sound rather thank actual talking or music from radio stations .

Any idea how to resolve ? I can scan across channels but still only get the sssshhhhhh sound .
