Power of central locking actuator

Hi guys,
I'm looking at using one of the spare actuators I have to pop the petrol cap, as my cable release is a bit rubbish.
Does any one know what sort of power they take and if I could run them from a switch or need to use a relay?
Cheers
Joe

ive done this with my boot release, just put 12volts onto the wires, 1 way makes it pop in the other war makes it pop out, figure out which way round the wires are and go from there, i did mine through a relay just to be safe but if you got a high neough powered push to make switch you shouldnt need a relay.

yer i've figured out the wiring bit with a jump start pack. green live means it pulls back the goes back out and blue live means it pushes out and then goes in.

sounds like you have the same motors as me then, the whole system is fused at 10 A i think so id say no more than 2.5A per actuator, so if you got a descent sized push button id say you wouldnt even need a relay.
