I haven't a clue of a stopping distance but I know how much is needed in my car and I add some to that to give me that extra second.

I don't see how knowing would help either because TBH I couldn't say how far 10 meters would be from were I was standing anyway.

I know the stopping distances but they're useless. As goldstar says, its hard to judge xxx meters down the road, and besides each car brakes differently on different road surfaces anyway.

I cant stand drivers who tailgate though.
