Do you mean the little PCV filter in the airbox? little rhombus shaped bit of fluff? You can get them direct from Nissan for a couple of quid, worth doing every now and then as they do get gunked up quite badly. Eventually the oil will seep through it onto your air filter and will catch all the flies and dirt that ends up in the airbox.
Changing it means it will be more effective at catching the oil from the breather and will stop oil getting into the throttle body assembly

Yeah, I'm thinking of the little PCV filter that tucks underneath the main air filter in the airbox. I'm not even sure if the Micra engines have an actual PCV valve, I think it's just constant vent to atmosphere. My breather hose runs through an oil catch tank on my car so the little PCV filter isn't needed.

Found it! Had a half day at work and was meddling with the Micra so decided to see if it had one:
From what I can see, they don't get very mucky. I'd say cleaning it would be fine, I tried to blow through it and the valve sealed one way and was fully open the other so I guess that means it's fully functional? Haven't dealt with PCV's much so sadly don't know much about them.

getting mixed up with this thread. MK 1 PVC valve is under inlet manifold an dis a screw in thing with a decent size black rubber hose coming off it! no idea on other Micra's. Though aware can all be different > workshop manual ought to show for your cars engine /model. It will always be a 'valve' either in plastic or metal that has a sort of spring and ball bearing/flat piston type of thing inside that acts as valve depending on breathing of engine. form commits. read above sounds as though confusion with the metal mesh you find under rocker cover box and let pad inside air filter box! neither of which is a PCV valve.
