Parcel Shelf Attachment

I've just bought a 2006 5-door K12 which has a cloth apron attached to the rear parcel shelf. The apron is obviously supposed to clip on to something. Can anyone tell me what this is for? I know it was there from new, but I suspect that it does not belong on the 5-door model. Mind you, the Nissan boot liner doesn't seem to fit the car too well either.

I know the boot liner kinda folds half way up the back seat ,meaning the square bits rest on the back of the chair but I too have also wondered what the spare bit of material is for.

the cloth part of the parcel shelf fits into two holes in the back of the rear seat so that when u adjust the rear seat fully forward the boot is still covered

Thanks, I had assumed those holes were something to do with child-seat fixings. It's a hell of a lot of cloth to cover such a small gap.
