Oil Sump Leak

Hi Everyone,

I've noticed today that my oil level was very low. After topping it up and doing general checks I noticed that my oil is dripping from the bottom of my engine / oil sump. What is the best way to fix this? My sump is extremely rusty, would there be anyway of fixing this easily or would I need to buy a new one?

rusty sumps are pretty common, someone on here will usually have one for sale

Get a new one, they are easy to change, I'm actually replacing mine today.

Not a big job. Make sure you replace the gasket with it as well. I'd recommend coating it with stonechip as well. Easier when its on a bench so you don't get the stuff in your eye

It has 2 gaskets by the way, not one.

They are sided so make sure you get them round the right way, also the sump gaskets have little locating lugs so make sure they are in right too!

Do you need specific sump gaskets or can gasket sealer do? thats all my friend used to use on his bora

there,s a curved rubber seal each end (around each crank seal), and the rest of the flange is sealered
