Odd noise from front of engine

A mate has picked up a pretty shonky k11 1litre but has got a pretty bad noise coming from the front of the engine. It sounds like a ****ed water pump or idler pulley but with all the belts off its still there.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the timing chains on these. Do they eat through the guides? and how many miles does nissan recommend before changing?

Pretty sure you'll never have to change it unless it goes wrong meaning i dont think theres a limit set my nissan

The timing chain tensioner's wear Ryan (clacking chain noise), pop the inspection panel off the side of the head & you'll be looking at it.
