Noise when moving from still and slowing to halt???

Hi there, I own a 1L Micra k11 vibe. Noticed recently a bizarre noise if anyone can shed some light. The noise occurs just as the car is moving for the 1st half a second, becoming higher pitched until dissappearing, and as it slows to a halt the same noise but becoming lower pitched until dissapearing. It does this without any involvement of pedals, so if you let the car naturally slow to a halt in neutral or move off and only dab the accelerator it would still do it. The noise is hard to describe. Almost like an electrical whistle sound. Not grinding or scraping. As ridiculous as it sounds if you say these letters this is how it would sound when slow down. "Z-U". Maybe a faint high frequency whirr? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

We could guess all day. Either way its nothing to worry about.
I have heard many a similar noise on many a car and they were all mechanically sound
To test the gearbox in a simple way. Put it in reverse and listen if its louder than normal its a lack of gearbox oil
If its a belt it'll be a high pitched screech. Usually solved by wd-40 or similar. Any dried out or cracked belts should be replaced
If there's a high frequency constant sound its a pulley and will require attention sooner rather than later
It could also be the brakes where they're just biting causing them to squeal. Constant squealing from brakes requires immediate attention

Hope that helps some :)
