Noise on the overrun at 70mph

I've got a buzzing noise inside the car (sounds like it's coming from behind the central air vents) at 70mph on the overrun. As soon as I put my foot back on the gas it goes. Any ideas?

My other problem is gear whine in second gear and difficulty selecting it. I'm guessing knackered gearbox (genius, I know). It's a '94 M-reg 1.3. Will a gearbox from a similar aged 1.0 fit, or do I need to find one from a 1.3? Don't suppose anyone knows of a decent suitable box for sale? Ta!

depends what wheels you have really, but yours is a 3.9 and the f/l 1.0 is 4.46 iirc

So about 15%? Hmm, that's actually quite a lot. I'll have to see what comes up on ebay or the like.
