No power on Pioneer deh-2900

Car wires are fine, fuses all good, just installed my old stereo but i got this pioneer for free from a car dealership.

anyway, i tested the wires on the HU and it has no power. What could be wrong inside? Going to try to fix it, if anyone could help me out.

also is there anyway i can test out if its getting power without plugging it into the car?

i had the same problem witha kenwood HU, it didnt work until i got really frustrated and punched it....then it was ALIVE!

is yours a 'face-off' type?

im not sure about punching it. but i did that to my video camera and it worked, dvd player and it worked. might give it a go, thanks.
