Hi, hope anyone can help;
We have a Nissan Micra 05 reg. we drove from work on Tuesday and on our way home stopped at Asda (travel distance about 5 miles) at which point I put the car in park (P) and turned off the engine. Upon getting back into the vehicle literally a few minutes, tried to turn the engine on and the engine won’t start basically won’t even turn over.
The following factors:
Battery
No warning lights come on or stay on after ignition has been engaged
Car had its MOT less than 3mnths ago
There is no apparent damage to the vehicle in anyway shape or form.
We took the car to Kwikfit who at first said that it was an issue with the ignition switch and we’re going to charge £170 for it to be replaced (including labour).
We then got in touch with the mechanic again to get an update on the progress of the car and we’re told that he had mistakenly diagnosed the car before and the issue is to do with the automatic gear selector as the car is not recognising (P) / (N) so basically will not start.
Firstly is this a common problem with these vehicles? Also can someone help explain this in a more informative way if anyone has had any similar experiences? Any advice would help at this point.
Thank you
