New bumpers

Hey everyone just a really quick question...

I got a new rear bumper today, and i noticed that it doesnt have the huge metal bit inside it (so its just plastic, no metal)

Now is the metal part meant to be connected to the car (i.e when i take the old bumper off, the metal part will still be attached to car)

OR is the metal thing meant to be attached to the actual bumper, and is it needed???

Sorry i keep refering to it as "the metal thing" lol...

the metal behinnd the bumper is an impact bar. it does attach to the rear bumper, but it doesnt have to

its not really needed, but helps if you car is in a rear end shunt. it bends easy anyway. so if someone taps your rear bumper it will bend...its better than nothing though!

ohkidoki thanks for that squarepants....so im guessing i can take off the impact bar off the old bumper, and place it onto the new bumper??
