Hi Guys, I'm a newbie from Newcastle and wanted to share the progress of my K12.
Well, what started as a simple repair, I have been getting a bit carried away.....
Firstly had to straighten out the fold as best I could
Started to do some shopping on Ebay for sandpaper, primer, paint etc and spotted a K12 Bodykit which I had to have........... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251362857064?ssPageName=STRK:MEBOFFX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1427.l2649
Thought it was an absolute bargain for £60 + Carriage of £25 considering the price to purchase the kit direct from Nissan dealers is £600 + vat, and although the body kit was intended for the 5 DOOR K12, I thought that with a bit of basic DIY skills, I could "make it fit" my 3 DOOR......
When the kit arrived I could see that the side skirts would need trimming where the rear doors would normally be, therefore.....
Used my Jigsaw to chop about 8mm from the rear section and if fitted quite well
I am a complete novice to cars and yet the instructions to fit the Body kit were as simple as building Ikea furniture. I then fitted the Front & Rear sections and then the fenders, and lastly the eyelids as per the detailed instructions.
I was quite pleased with the finished result and was surprised at how much my car had changed.
I realised that I would need a spoiler as It was just missing something and after not finding much of a selection on Ebay, I spotted a spoiler for the MG ZR which the profile looked similar to the Micra http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181186594335?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I thought for the price of £23.50 it was well worth a punt, and decided to buy it.
Upon receiving it I couldn't wait to see if it would fit and immediately went to the car to trial fit it, and to my amazement it would fit without any trouble, except for drilling 4 x 6.5MM holes and buying some M6 x 50mm bolts to fix it securely.
I thought I had grabbed an absolute bargain of a spoiler for £23.50 which would not be too imposing, when I discovered someone on Ebay selling the same Brand New MG ZR Shark Fin Spoilers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290998506728?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
for £14.95 plus £11.95 Carriage and in various colours.
The only difference to the one that I purchased was the brake light colour.
These brand new ones come with a white light, but I suppose you don't really have to connect it up to your current high level brake light or you could invest in a red cree high power LED bulb which would give a nice bright light.
Went through sanding and spraying mine although not finished off yet....
Just awaiting my fixing bolts arriving then I can drill & fit.
Next job I done was changing the appearance of the rear light clusters and ordered http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190492098123?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Some smoked vinyl sheet for £4.59
I definately think that for £4.59 it makes a huge difference to the "stock" set up of the rear lights giving them the "Lexus" look but without the hefty price tag.
Well I have to end my first contribution to MSC and will update this post as my work progresses
Next job is removing the badge from the bonnet and tidying up the mess from the bump, think I will be leaving the badge off as it looks really different with the eye lids and no badge.
