Motor problems

I bought a old Nissan Micra from 1996 a couple of weeks ago. When I drove it home the motor began setting out, and eventually shut down. When I turned it on again it drove perfectly fine and after a while began do it all over again. I have figured out that it only happens when the motor is hot.
Can anyone tell what is wrong with my Micra?

i had a duff distributor that kept doing that once

Faulty coolant sensor maybe? causing it to run rich
