Micra Starting Issues

This is my GF's Nissan Micra Shape 1.0 DOHC 16v

Had it for a year been trouble free til now has a slight starting issue
when you put the key in the ignition the igniton light will come on go to turn the key to start it the ignition light goes off doesnt turn over etc...

My Guess was the ignition barrel we have 2 keys for the car 1 works sometimes and 1 did but noiw both dont grr

Any ideas cheers
