MIcra over heating, blowing cold air out ??? advice needed

I noticed driving my car home before that the temp was nearly on full, i put the heater on max heat to try and take the heat off a bit and there was cold air blowing out?

What is the likely cause ? A faulty thermostat maybe or something else ??

Any advice or tips apreciated

I will tomorrow morning, its pretty dark out there, though could get a torch i guess

a high gauge and cold heater is usually a sign of no coolant

No coolant means head gasket failure!!!
