Hello

My names Tom and ive been lurking this site for a while now reading as many threads as possible. Im after getting me a 1999 1.3 inspiration k11 for my first car and fancy modding it a 'bit' (lot, but dont tell parents lol). I was very happy with insurance checks coming bak under 2k with mods and thats before ive even been to specialists ..

so my questions really ..

where do you get ur exhaust systems from .. ive found ashley rally and peter lloyd so far (the peter lloyd one, only shows 1000cc systems on the site, wud this be ok for 1275cc?) .. and how do you sort out the camber to get positive camber? other than that im just after any tips n tricks a noob could need ...

Hello and welcome, Tom (Y).

I think you mean negative camber (wheels sticking out further at the bottom than at the top) :laugh:. Positive sticks out at the top, and would be impossible on a Micra - would cause the wheels to hit the top of the arches. Not very viable :grinning:. But to get camber you can either use Eibach camber spacers (not sure on price though, think they might be a bit dear), or I think there is a thread about using different bolt sizes to get camber.

Matt Humphries is a good place to start with mods - he does stuff like lowering kits, induction kits, alloys, and if I remember correctly, exhaust systems. Most of the time, it's just a case of keeping an eye out on see if anyone is selling anything (Y). Janspeed also make exhaust systems for the K11, but they're a bit pricey, and you can get stainless steel systems made up as well - but again, big bucks to do. We're always happy to help out noobs here :laugh::p.

They are very easy cars to work on, there's quite a lot of stuff you can do to them for free, without needing a vast amount of professional tools - just a jack, some axle stands, socket set, allen key set, and a spanner set. Personally, the best to place to start off (an always guaranteed to set any car) is a decent set of alloys, lowering, de-badging/de-bumpstripping, and a different exhaust system. There are also a hell of a lot of engine mods you can do to these, just a case of looking around and seeing what works for you - and, of course, what you can do with the tools/experience that you have (Y).

And lastly - I'm sure this goes without saying - we need pics!!
 
awesome, thanks for quick reply .. lol yes negative lol .. spent too long with the baja beetle crew haha. I have a spreadsheet made (joke all you want lol) .. i will check out matt humphries now. Picked out some dynamics monzas in black, and spax lowering springs .. cant wait :grinning:
 
If you go with lowering springs, make sure you get uprated shocks as well - otherwise, not only will you knacker your back as well as your standard shocks, the ride will be pretty much unbearable
 
ah ok .. will check that out, sorry for noobish approach lol, but my car modifying is normally for offroad abuse rather than on road cars lol, will have to share some pics of a buggy we've built on vw beetle floorpan haha
 
speadsheets are good, keeping track of your money is a very good idea!

and i had a peter lloyd on my 1.3 with no worries. (Y)

has 8 shocks, 1600cc engine, bout 1ft-1.5ft ground clearance, irs, etc..

That's cause the 1.3 cams make a difference with the 1.0, if you want different cams in the 1.3 you'd be looking at a regrind or some cams from Matt Humphris
