micra 1.0 losing power

Hi All,

My brother-in-law's micra is playing up.

It is a L reg 1.0L

When it is cold it runs fine, as it warms up it get rough and after 2-3 miles when it is warm it jumps and kangeroo's all over the place at around 30mph. All power is lost and you have to start again and build up speed for the cycle to repeat.

I have'nt looked at the car yet, just looking for any common faults or people with same problems, before i get the car tomorrow.

Strange it is when it is warm though ??

Sounds strange...

Could be a number of things...

Air pipe splits, low water levels, Head gasket.

Have you checked the engine is not overheating?

i had the exact same problem it will most likely be the throttle body/air flow meter as it is a common problem with the micras

Can this be repaired or is it a replacement ??
How does it work (wire type, rotometer??)
How do I check for correct operation??

to resolder the throttle body. credit to cisco and the members who wrote it, not me

run a search for throttle body for more info as this has been covered quite a bit.

also check the usual things, plugs leads etc
