manifold/cat heatshield

Has dropped off my mothers K12 1.2. Is it needed? I'm just concerned it might melt the rad or something.

Isnt vital,mines only just holding on with one bolt now,the other 3 sheared off. Think few ppl have them missing and dont bother replacing without any harm
