im looking to swap some bulbs out for led
are they a direct swap or do i have to put any resistors in or something??

Depends on what bulbs you put in and where you get them from, if you buy them from somewhere proper more than likely they already have the Resistors etc

so if i was to buy them from a website that specifies the led's' for the car i shouldnt need to worry about any resistors??

Exactly I get all of mine from here http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/ Never had a problem with them got a few in my current car
