I was returning from taking my daughter and granddaughter for lunch today, and as I changed into 5th the car lost power and started to slow, so I changed back into 4th but it was just as bad so I pulled in and stopped. The engine was still running so I set off again and the car ran perfectly all the way home (about 8 hilly miles).
At no time did the engine management light show, and when I got home I scanned for faults and none were recorded.
As I am only a few weeks from my 80th birthday this doesn't fill me with confidence, so if anyone knows what might have caused this I should be glad to find out.
