My daughter's 2006 1.2 SE Auto throws up the immobiliser warning light after about 5 minutes of driving. From all my reading on this forum and elsewhere it sounds like it could have had a replacement PS unit and not be coded properly to the car. I dare not remove and replace the battery now in case it won't start at all. Any thoughts to resolve? I see that @huttojb is an expert in this and has helped out multiple members. Hoping that he is still on here and might be willing to help again? I had read about swapping the NVM chip and as a former electronics engineer had considered tackling that but Jason's advice suggests that there's more in that chip than just a match to the vehicle's VIN.
No error codes on a full diagnostic scan (Autel MP808BT)
BTW a previous owner has also installed a push start button. You still need to turn the ignition key until the start position before using the start button (immobiliser still used to prevent unauthorised starting). Might or might not be related to this issue.
