K12 GEAR KNOB REMOVAL

I’m just wondering if anyone can help, I’ve tried twisting the gear knob anti-clockwise with pliers to remove it but it just won’t budge. I don’t want to cut it to get it off - I’ve already slightly damaged the stock one too (even though I put a rag over it first) which is frustrating. I looked for videos online but can only see K11 knob removals. Has anyone got any other ideas or tips on how to get it off? Also, once removed, has it got a thread that you can screw a new one on to?

Hi I used a rubber mallet to remove mine it was all taken off the car first if you have something like a vice grip to hold onto the metal then tap it with decent force from the bottom of the knob sit will break free.
It does take some force to remove tho.
I used the bench vice and mallet.
It worked after a few taps no damage at all.
My problem is I installed the wrong one by mistake and don't want to ruin the mech just for a colour change.
I would give it a go if you have rubber mallet.

Its not a screw fitting and I didn't notice any glue it just a really snug fit.

You will see a plastic part that the selector fits onto.

If your wanting to replace with an original part my method would work okay.
If its aftermarket I'm unsure how would remove and install since I have not tried that yet.
