My K12 petrol cut out whilst driving - turned over but would not start. Sprayed some cold start in the air filter and the engine caught - so knew it was fuel supply issue. Mechanic came and whacked the fuel tank with big metal rod and - hey presto car started fine. So apparently its the fuel pump on its way out.
I have seen that I can get at this through the back seat, not sure about the special tool to turn it to open - but the rest seems a DIY job.
Couple of questions 1) is there a way of opening the top of the fuel tank without the specialised tool - eg 3 jaw oil filter removal tool?
2) Which brands are OK -Bosch £300 Starline £200 Ebay Lucas £100 Goodness knows what a Nissan part costs - and I guess a second hand one is just asking for a repeat- although this is the £50 option....
Any thoughts folks? - Thanks in advance.
