K12 Exhaust Back Box Heat Shield

Hello, the heat shield over the back box on my K12 has come loose and rattles on top of the back box.
Can this small part of the heat shielding be removed and not be replaced? Not sure what it is shielding there? If I must replace does anyone know where I can get a cheap one?

Ripped it off - seems fine - thanks to all.

Yeh , I ripped the heat shield off the CAT on a old K11 and it still pased the MOT .
