K12 camshaft sensor

My son's 2005 k12 1.2 refused to start.
AA diagnosed camshaft sensor fault. We have successfully replaced the sensor and now the car starts and runs fine, but...
The eml is now on, whereas it wasn't before the sensor was replaced.
Hoping this is normal and it just needs the codes clearing.
Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

If the new sensor & connections are functionally ok, as it appears to be, then I would expect the eml fault flag to auto reset after up to a dozen on & off driving cycle operations without the need for manual resetting?
